Clarence House Pinot Noir 2022
Surely one of the best value producers of Pinot Noir in the country, Clarence House Estate has just released a trio of gorgeous wines from the excellent 2022 vintage. The growing season was long, cool and dry and the fruit came in to the winery in pristine condition. In short, a classic Tassie vintage.
The Estate blend is made up of five different clones from all three pinot blocks. There is a small amount of whole bunch (5 %), the ferments are all native yeast with about three weeks on skins. Matured in a mix of barriques and puncheons with just 10 % new wood.
Three blocks and five clones are wild fermented, with the inclusion of some whole bunches, the wine matured in new and used French oak. Deeply coloured, it is flooded with dark cherry/berry fruit sweeping through to the finish and aftertaste. 13.5% alc, screwcap. 97 points, drink to 2034. James Halliday. The Weekend Australian.
