Denton 'Shed' Chardonnay 2021
Denton View Hill, is an isolated slope in the middle of the Yarra Valley on the north side of the Yarra River. The vineyard lies over a granite ‘plug’ from the late Devonian Age (370 million years ago), sitting above the surrounding sandstones and siltstones of the Valley. The Denton wines and Shed series are made by Luke Lambert, one of the leading winemakers in Victoria.
Whole bunch pressed and wild fermented and matured in a mix of stainless steel tank and old French oak. Bottled without fining or filtration. Flint, talc, river stone, jasmine and citrus. Pulpy, solids-y weight from whole bunch and dirty juice ferment. Even in these warmer years the granitic soils of the vineyard ensure a clean acid line and cool fruit characters.
