Domaine La Florane 'Cotes du Rhone Villages' White 2016
Fresh, minimal intervention Southern Rhones from terrior purist Adrien Fabre. Based around Visan the soils are rock clay with a high limestone content and the vineyards are planted at a high elevation of 300m. Natural ferments, minimal sulphur additions and strict separate vilification of each block. Pure wines in the best sense.
Visan’s aspect, mineral rich soil and mistral winds make it a great part of the Southern Rhône to grow whites (and pinks). Rather than the broader, estery style of some white Rhônes this certainly keeps on its toes. Textural, fresh and with a stony mineral edge, this is simply a delicious glass to glasser. Pulpy and perky, has a fullness beyond its weight, refreshing with an array of stone fruits and honeysuckle carrying through to the finish.
