Juniper Estate Crossing Original Red 2021
"Not often one finds a delicious Marg River red for under twenty bucks, don’t miss out. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon (81.6%), Merlot (10.5%), Shiraz (4.7%), Malbec (1.5%), Petit Verdot (1.3%) & Cabernet Franc (0.4%) – we are nothing if not specific here at WinePilot. The different varieties were all fermented individually in a mix of open and closed fermenters, with eight to twenty-one days on skins, then enjoyed a year in French barriques (90%) and hogsheads (10%), with 5% new. Dark magenta hue, the nose offers redcurrants, spices, leather, herbs and black fruit notes with a touch of aniseed and bay leaves. Bright flavours and good energy, this is fleshy and floral with a smooth texture. Supple, cushiony tannins, the wine is of medium length. Attractive drinking now and over the next half dozen years. Such good value." Ken Gargett. Wine Pilot
