THE VINEYARD
This is our first vintage of old-vine Grenache, sourced from a beautiful block we call 'The Springs' due to its location in the renowned subregion of Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. The vineyard covers 2 hectares, with an elevation of 136m. The site is home to 75-year-old bush vine Grenache, deeply rooted in sandy soils typical of this esteemed subregion. This vineyard is sustainably certified and is tendered by hand throughout the season.
WINEMAKING
Hand-picked on the 22nd of March. The fruit was open fermented using 25% whole bunches and left on the skins for 10 days to achieve the optimum balance between flavour and tannin extraction. The wine was matured on lees in seasoned French Puncheons for 8 months prior to bottling in December, 2023. 14.0% alcohol. 100% Grenache.
TASTING NOTE
Bright and lifted with floral notes coupled with red fruits, crushed raspberries and underlying dried herb. Sourced from old vines, on sandy soils in Blewitt Springs, the wine is vibrant and pure with great balance and minerality, showcasing fine, silky tannins and great fruit length.
