Traviarti Chardonnay 2023

Traviarti Chardonnay 2023

Traviarti Chardonnay 2023

"Second crop from a vineyard planted at 450m in granitic soils. No malo, no added acid. Crushed and pressed to 600 litre Stockinger demi muids, one new.  We know Traviarti as a nebbiolo producer, for sure. I’m also aware that I liked Traviarti’s 2022 Chardonnay quite a lot too, so (very) good chardonnay should not be a surprise. But even so, hang on. This release floored me. It is frankly, absolutely, fundamentally a seriously good chardonnay. It has great line, great texture and most importantly, great personality. It’s taste hay-like, and of wet riverstones, and of lemon curd, and of understated grilled peach. It shows sprays of herbs, flashes of fennel and slips of green olive oil-on-butter. It has plenty going on throughout and yet it’s all about the finish, which is long. Second crop. We have a wine on our hands here but we also have a vineyard. Both are going places."  Rated : 95+ Points.  Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

"A mid-weighted chardonnay of immense class, sitting pretty between a pose of tension and a strut of generosity. Stone fruits, ginger, cardamon pod, anise and truffled lees work, sexy and smart, evincing just the right degree of tension to facilitate mid-term ageing without impinging on the imminent deliciousness. A wonderful wine! Drink or hold."  Marc Malouf - Wine Worth Writing About
