Yarra Yering Carrodus Pinot Noir 2021
A release from Yarra Yering, how lucky we are to receive allocation from their 2021 vintage! The 2021 Carrodus is a small bottling of Yarra Yering's original Pinot Noir vines planted in 1969. Hand-picked and fermented with whole berries and a few stalks, just like Dr Carrodus used to. Maturated for 10 months in 35% new small, French oak barrels.
Rose petals and cherry fruits. Highly aromatic with some oak adding a vanilla sweetness. An elegant and silky fruit profile, cherry-soft, the palate is silky, seamless and expansive. Some graphite and oak spice lend a fine tannin structure to the finish.
97 Points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review
97 Points – Halliday Wine Companion 2024
93 Points – Ned Goodwin for James Suckling
